I just had my 2009 model, 120 series in for its 190000km service. I was told that my turbo charger is leaking and needs to be replaced - quoted $3500. Has anyone else had this done? Toyota or other supplier?

Yes my son had this in his 150. Was told by Gladstone Toyota during routine service, that it needed a new turbo. He had a look, cleaned it up and found it's the compressor housing seal. At some stage Toyota's turbos went from an "O" ring seal to brownish coloured sealant for the compressor housing. Anyway long story short it needs a bit of a clean every 20,000k's, nothing for him to worry about. (Toyota never bothered to clean the engine when servicing)
I'd get another opinion.

Check the inside of the intercooler for excess oil and also does your oil level go down between changes?
If its just the housing silicone sealant leaking with minimal oil consumption you can probably let it go for a while.2019 GXL, Bullbar, UHF, Redarc Brake Controller, Tow Bar, Secondary Fuel Filter
