          I must agree here.
Aaron may of had a death in the family, a close family member that needs 24/7 care all of a sudden (Accident, cancer, etc).
Until we know for sure I reserve personal judgement of the guy.
What would be nice is if he did take 2mins out of his day to say something to the financial members. I'm not 1 of them so the news would trickle down but there are financial agreements that need to be met in timely manner (like any business).
2007 GXL V6 - ARB Bullbar with LED lights, snorkel, extractors, 2 1/4" dual exhaust, K&N filter, dimpled/slotted rotors, headrest dvd players, Ebay Satnav/reverse camera, GME 3100TX, Tigerz11 Side awning on custom brackets with Maxtrax mounts, 300W Invertor, ARB Underbody protection, Lightbar and STZ 265/70 tyres.

I do not think anyone is intolerant when people have personal stuff that they need to sort out and having been there recently I sincerely hope Aaron can get on top of it and come through whatever is going on. The lack of communication about on going issues that have been plaguing the site for more or less a year delivers a different message however. Piggy's post 6 or 9 months ago would have seen a different set of threads created.

And all it would take is 2 minutes out Aaron’s day to update the forum ( not just the paid members) of the current status and not “admin is aware of it” kind of statement... that’s just not good enough as this has been going on for close to a year now. If it is a personal/private issue then splash up a suitable statement and I’m sure people will understand. But as Whitey stated, Aaron’s lack of engagement is undeserving of all the members of Pradopoint.

2 minutes is all it takes.

Hmm, i find that a bit harsh.

Emphathy is about being able to understand and engage with the feelings / situation of others. Its all a bit of a vaccum, and my take on it is Whitey has asked for a statement (that we can or can not emphasise with), about the future of PP, for the benefit of its members (paying and not). However for me, its a bit more than that. This is a major technical encyclopedia / resorce for Prados, contributed to by us, for us, for free; - that has massive intangible value, and deserves respect (of the integrity of a functioning platform).

Sometimes action needs to be taken in the absence of action and presence of words. The forum has had issues for a long time.

Im surprised another platform / forum hasnt emerged - i know there a few breakaway facebook groups, but IMHO facebook is a crap platform for much more than talking crap.

As I have a 90, Facebook is really my only alternative. This forum's 90 section has been dead for years whereas Facebook is really cooking. It might lack the huge data base that an older forum builds over time but it's getting there.

Sad to see this happen. Pradopoint is the only forum that I still use, there are some great people and it has been invaluable through the years.

Yes we need empathy, but communication is also required and it only takes a few minutes to give a heads up.

This is sad. I can fully empathise with those that are totally frustrated and feel that enough is enough.

At the end of the day, this is a forum where some people have paid $$$ for their membership and expect a service, which hasn't met expectations. Communications has been poor to say the least. As this is a business (generating profit and $$$), there needs to be better business management arrangements and especially communications to its users.

Sadly, this isn't the first time this has occurred.

I've been here a while and the forum has evolved many times. Many members have come and gone for various reasons. At times, some of the departures have been for the wrong reasons including issues with the site management. Poor administration and moderation hasn't helped either.

The forum has so much potential, and has enabled many Prado owners to help many others. The creation and running of a number of Get-Togethers around the country is testament of how good this site can be. Sadly, IMHO, it's lost its mojo and is nothing like it was in its hey day with lively and active communications, good moderation, and frequent discussions by many including a fair bit of humour and good banter.

                        I hope things can improve.

If the site's business continuity rests on just one individual, then "Houston, we've got a problem".

                        Just my 2 cents.

                            Members,

This forum has been running for over a decade now and only continues to do so due to the couple of admins who willingly give their time.

I set this forum up as there was no alternative place for interested Prado owners. The first post was about installing a dual battery in my 120. It has grown into something valuable, a great source of information, a sense of community and for some, a platform to spruik their services.

The forum has survived threats from bullies, life events, legal ramifications, mutiny attempts, competitors and other less than acceptable behaviour from some members and the general public.

There was a time when advertising generated some funds to run this site. Then Google Adsense banned the site. There are not many financial members left and the calendar and photo competition turned into a debacle, partly due to my commitments elsewhere are partly due to members trying to game the system.

We have also had to constantly contend with people who simply just want to rock the boat, have their own agenda and generally make things difficult.

All part and parcel of having a platform that is open to anyone I guess.

The recent database errors are inexplicable even with the hours I have spent troubleshooting.

The upgrade has been a long time coming. I have read many reports of sites upgrading to vBulletin 5 and wishing they never did.

I have copied the database and run the upgrade for you to have a preview. If the consensus is that it looks ok, we will upgrade the live site.

Pradopoint is not going anywhere. We are here for the long haul.

My apologies to those who have found the site frustrating due to the database crashes.
