You could buy an Anderson Plug crimping tool off EBay for $17-$18. It's designed for larger lugs. Double your wiring back over in the lug prior to crimping for a mechanical strength fit. Even get two pairs of hands on the crimping tool when crimping if need be to add 50% more to your own strength.

I have an Arkpak and it’s fabulous, will easily run my ARB fridge for 3 days and it can be topped up by driving or connecting a solar panel to it too last longer

        sounds like a good setup!

I ended up going the VSR route with a baintech v1 powertop i got off gumtree for $350, the vsr kit is this https://www.australiandirect.com.au/...DBWK8MMVSR2AND

all up ~$500 which I think should go great, the kit only has 8b&s not 6b&s but im happy with that. will let you guys know how it fairs when i rig it up. The australiandirect guys have some great videos and seem to know what heir talking about so going to trust the vsr kit is a good product!

I've been reading reviews on Arkpak stuff and I'll be steering clear for sure.
The Baintech stuff looks the goods or DIY if you've got the time and knowledge.
Edit: Another brand is AustralianDirect. Decent range of options.

The VSR kit i purchased from Australian Direct came in the mail yesterday, wondering if anyone had suggestions on the best place or spot to mount in the v6 120 Grande?
Photo of the product below along with dimension details. https://www.australiandirect.com.au/...al+Sensing+VSR

The two screw slots you can see on the bottom are the same on the top, however I cannot seem to find a good place in the Grande to mount it.
As ideally i don't want to be drilling under the bonnet at all, and otherwise would need a bracket made up i'm going to try mount it just past the firewall up under the passenger footwell, the initial fused 80amp cable supplied by Australian Direct is 750mm long and think it will be just long enough to pass the firewall grommet. As i don't plan on cutting down that initial cable no matter where I mount the VSR it will be the same distance from the started battery.

I have the same unit and mounted it on top of the main fuse box next to the battery. Take the lid off to drill holes and make sure that no bolts/ screws touch anything inside! Works very well on my 2.8. I put a 100 amp mega fuse between the main battery and the VSR and another just before the auxilliary battery on the rhs. I just happened to be in a marine store before I installed it all and picked up very cheaply ready made super thick [4B and S?] +ve and -ve cables. As you are installing the box in the back make sure that the cables are thick enough-6 B and S [?]. Install the vsr where I said and fuse it well. Others will say what is necessary eg. earth back to main battery and not chassis. I had a similar set up in my 120 but the cable was only 8 b and s so a bit light but did work. Also when the aux was low my battery box [ABR] had the vsr built in and because it was so far from the battery it chattered on and off for a while until the battery got a bit of charge into it .

                thanks for the info!

I ended up talking with baintech, and apparently the powertop has an inbuilt vsr, which means i can just run the fused cable directly from battery to rear and plug straight into the unit. very handy. Will give it a try tonight. Simplifies my life by a league!

Be aware that remotely placed vsr like that and like mine had, are inclined to flutter and bang open and shut. The heavier 6 b and s cable may stop this . Mine only had 8 b and s which I suspect never fully charged the battery. Worked fine if driven every day but really struggled on the 2nd day if not driven.

no problems, will see how it fairs after a few weeks and if not getting enough charge will consider more options.
