2017 Prado Kakadu BullBar options?

Gday everyone,

This is my first post here.

I have followed from the background for a little while before recently creating a login.

We have just recently bought a run out model of the 2017 Kakadu (August 2017) so before the most current face lift.

My question is, Bullbars

We live 2 hours west of Mackay and there are a number of roos out our way.

I like the new style shape bar from Toyota on their other models, but by the sounds, Toyota only offer the low lip style bull bar on the Kakadu.

Has anyone come across this recently?

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I have added a photo of the bar i like, versus the one Toyota are suggesting I fit.

Other than the Toyota bar, i do like the ARB style bars, but im yet to see one fitted to a Kakadu.

Have a read of my rig build up. It's a Kakadu and was fitted with ARB Bullbar and side steps.

A few people have reported issues getting ARB to fit this to the Kakadu.

Fairly sure slipperykakadu has a ARB bar fitted to his have a look on the my rig build section.
The do cut off the lower DLRs and just cover them with duct tape also loose your front camera view but you can get a relocation kit


OL Bar fits the Kakadu as well.

Hello Deano, I took some time to find a bullbar for my 150 Kakadu. ARB would not guarantee their bar would NOT interfere with the camera and radar; ditto Toyota. Opposite Lock did so and I fitted a steel Opposite Lock bar. I also need LED lights for a lot of country Western Australia driving. After some trial and error I have managed to fit two LED spots and a lightbar (attached to top bar, forward so legal). My assessment of the radar is that it is a very narrow beam both vertical and horizontal. Toyota said they didn't know the beam configuration, hence the trial and error. The camera is partially obscured by the spotlights.

The OL bar has non-vertical supports which fit in well with the non-vertical angled grill design. I had the bar painted to match the Pearl White of the vehicle.

I hope this is of some use to your thinking. I can supply a photo of the front of my vehicle if required.

OL did there R&D on our Kakadu hence they can now garantee it is compatible

I recently had the OL bar fitted to the Kakadu, the main reason was that it actually fits the front of the Kakadu. No black duct tape covering DRL's and doesn't stick out anywhere near as far as ARB's!
Radar Cruise has not been effected. The front camera was not relocated, but this doesn't worry me at all, if you are relying on the front camera when off road I would be concerned!
Had it color coded silver and couldn't be happier (see pics in Facelift Bullbar thread)
I guess the proof will be later this year when we tackle the Gibb!
