  • Waeco Coolpower 36 portable battery

Hopefully a simple solution for this one

I've got the above battery pack and it doesn't hold charge now at all, so most likely the battery is cactus. I use a 7 stage charger and it aint doing anything for the battery

Is there a replacement battery i can retro fit in this, or upgrade to a larger amp capacity.

Has anyone fixed up a dead battery and if so, would it be possible to add links to replacements as ive looked round on the net and cant find anything

    Cheers

From the specs, there are 2x 18Ah AGMs inside. So I would crack open the case and compare the size of the existing batteries to something like this https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-12V-...-/350529311031

Ok did this repair take a sideways move or what

Talking to my brother about how i killed the battery pac, (due to my incompetence) he says give it to me ill fix it up following me mentioning to him how small the current 36amp capacity is and how expensive its to repair

Turned my 36amp battery pack into a 100amp monster...Find out he has grabbed and tested a whole pile of lithiums, worked his tech magic, which is beyond my skillset. Put them all together, installed it into the pac, attached a usb input and has tested it also...hows that for free service lol.

Mentioned he hooked it up to a waeco to a setting of 2deg from saturday to Monday arvo and still had enough in reserve, not much tho but enough not to cook the battery

Im quite happy, ill let you lads know how it goes once i start using it

Btw the cost to me was a regulator of some description, not much

Good move, but you need to know what sort of Li he has fitted because it will have ramifications on how it is charged. I have LiFeP04 in both wagon and van, and they are far and above any LA solution. The good news is that they will charge faster and probably to capacity on the car's electrical system, but you MUST not over charge or discharge them, and depending on the Li compound they MAY have to be watched more (or a lot more!) closely than LA.
Is the USB the only charging input? At 2A charge rate it is going to take a looooong time to fill those puppies!
          cheers
          Steve
