    Pradopoint Upgrade Preview

Time to take a breath guys and back down.
If your post is not in regard to the beta forum upgrade. It is not required in this thread.
Attacking other members is certain to gain you infractions or a holiday. So play nice.
As only a couple of people know why the PM system is offline, so taking guesses and jumping up and down is quite foolish.

    Last warnings.

Who knows, why don't you tell us already? Your relentless ambiguous claims about Mark, Ironman and the group buy are becoming a little boring.
Just get it out there Phs. You'll feel better for it.

Thanks for the constructive feedback so far.

For the record, the PM system has nothing to do with Mark.

It was disabled as it was being abused to threaten and bully other members and by multiple members dealing their wares in breach of the forum rules.

I am considering reinstating it with the forum upgrade.

Please keep the thread on topic.

              Thanks for that clarification.

Another forum I use has done the same change and while there wers a few hiccoughs overall it seems better with more tuneability.

It's never good when a whole system is punished or effected because of a few. Better to target the problems than to restrict everyone else.

That is a terrible excuse to disable the PM function.
If an individual is abusing it, ban them.

The new upgrade does have a different feel to it but it is just moving forward with progress.

I am only a member of two forums and this is my favorite as it has allowed me to me a wide variety people form all over Australia and there are quite a few I now call friends.

If the upgrades mean that the forum continues and the good times can be had then I am all for the change.

I like it, looks clean and easy to read/navigate.

                      Do it!

Yes I totally agree, the lack of the PM system is a real handicap for me, not because I want to do anything underhand and certainly not to "abuse other members" but it would be a huge advantage to be able to contact others without having to publish my email address. I belong to the Fortuner forum and they don't have an issue with the PM system.

I have asked several questions about this in the past and until now all my questions as to why we are unable to send a PM have been ignored.

Well there haven't been any real concerns so I'll schedule the upgrade.

Just a couple of thoughts suggestions.

                              1. Please don't "disable" the current website until everyone is sure that the new one is fully functional, especially once everyone and all the info is "migrated" to the new forum page.

                              2. Be sure to monitor the new site a little more closely, or ask some trusted members to monitor its functionality.

                              3. Provided the new forum site actually works, and messaging and search, and other functions actually work...unlike recent experiences with the current forum over the last several months...then it should be successful.

                              4. Maybe look at who manages the site and how the site is managed, because that has been somewhat less than ideal...for a variety of reasons....the risk being that more good valuable contributors will leave...and I have learnt quite a bot from some contributors, and its helped me with both of my prados....but its the old warning "caveat emptor"...(buyer beware)...and likewise....forum members beware...you can't always believe what you read...but real experiences and honest opinions can be ...and have been an invaluable resource ...long live new Prado Point.....so long and good bye (not too soon) to the old prado point.

Good luck with the site migration...no doubt there will be bugs and errors...that's always to be expected...but its how admin go about responding, advising and fixing issues that will determine if some folk will stay with the forum

Within the next couple of days. I've been doing the prep work to get the server and database sorted.

I've just moved all attachments out of the database and into the filesystem.

The database is now more manageable to move around.

I'm about to upgrade mySQL to Mariadb and php7.
