Installing new headlamp units

My original headlamp units are badly faded; I looked into all the techniques for restoring them, but in the end (given that the cost to replace them entirely has come down over the last couple of years), I'm just going to get some aftermarket units (same style, none of this angel eye stuff).

Before I go down this road, has anyone done this yet? If yes, any unexpected bits I should know about? Looks straight forward, but that's when I get worried.

Looking at the Service & Repair Manual the Headlamp Assy looks fairly simple, except the Bumper Cover needs to come off.

I did finally find some other threads discussing the replacement of the headlight, but it was odd - I had to search via google... using the site's search function didn't find anything. Here, for example: http://www.pradopoint.com.au/showthr...cing-headlight

Anyway, your diagram is certainly helpful - hoping I can go in through the wheel well and just slight undo the bumper without having to take it off entirely. We'll see.
