It's not hard, You need a wide angle lens on an SLR camera, a tripod. Set camera to Bulb setting and take exposure for 30 seconds - EASY

Got my camera back from the workshop after a mishap with some seawater! Took it out to work this shift and snapped some more night shots.

I took 48 3min shots to create that image wth a one second delay between each shot. So total time is just under 2.5hrs. I took one additional shot for the foreground and had some house lights on about 100m away that lit the area. I also used the light on the back of my iPhone to light up the spikey plant (Yucca?) closest to the camera.

I use an intervalometer to control the camera, I set it to take the shots at the intervals and durations that I want and then come back when the battery has run out or when I'm happy I've got enough shots. Saves me standing there pressing the button every three minutes!

You then take those 48 shots and put them all together in Photoshop. Simple!

                              Thanks tims.

Little tip for anyone taking night shots (And any shots really). If you have the option to shoot in RAW then do it, it gives you sooooooooo many more options when it comes to editing or correcting your images. The individual file size for each image will be much larger than a JPEG because of the uncompressed nature of the file and also because of the information that has been stored for that image that you can access and use when editing.
