Prado GX BullBar installation on GXL

Does anyone know or have knowledge on whether you can fit a Toyota Sovereign Bullbar that came off a GX model Prado onto a GXL model?

Is it the GX the same as the GXL or can it be modified, or should I not even attempt?

Any advice would be appreciated.

G'day Paul

No first hand experience with the Toyota Bar - I have an ARB one.

But the Toyota Australia web site does list two separate versions of the Soverign Bullbar. One for GX only and one for GXL/Grande.

When I zoom in on the photos, the main differencies I can spot are that the GX version doesn't look like it has holes for fog lights that are standard on the GXL. So you wouldn't have a home for the foggies if you tried to put a GX bar on a GXL. But maybe this is a plastic bit which you could replace separately?

It also looks like there is extra rubber moulding on the GXL version - around the ends of the bar where it aligns with the wheel arches?

I also had a quick look through the service manual section on Front Bumper assembly - figuring that if there were going to be any chasis differences between models - then they'd be noted there.

But there's only a single diagram and no mention of model variations. So my assumption would be that this bit of the chasis is common to all models and therefore in theory it should fit in place of the bumper.

Don't know if that's too many assumptions for one post - I guess the only definitive answer will come from Toyota. Suggest you give 'em a call.
