G'day all, I have a question for all you learned Prado-people:
As they all do, my 2008 4.0L VX comes with a factory-installed 'towbar wiring connection point' which is apparently in the jack storage compartment in the rear of the vehicle.
When purchasing a towbar from a recognised Toyota supplier, I requested a towbar harness and was informed that I would have to get this from a Toyota dealer.
I subsequently e-mailed a Toyota dealer, and requested such a towbar harness.
The dealer told me that Toyota do not supply this harness, it is sourced from the supplier of the towbar. (Huh?)
My question is this - is the 'harness' is simply wired into the vehicle harness at this point without using a plug or other specific means of attaching it? If so, then I may as well just make up and fit my own 'harness'...
If it uses a specific/special plug to connect to the harness, does anyone have a Toyota part number of the item?
If I was currently at home, I could obviously check this out myself, but I am away at work (Operation Enduring Freedom) until just before Christmas, and by the time I get home all businesses will be closed for Christmas so I won't be able to buy the required items either way!
Many thanks,
P
