In terms of a vertical load, there is no difference whether it is top or bottom mounted. However, in terms of longitudinal load, the top+bottom mount would be stronger. Additionally, the hilift is mounted on the lower part of the bracket. So the lower mount provides better support.

Cheers amts. (my bracket is 100mm deep) In the event of the bracket fully loaded with 4 x maxtrax, shovel & high lift jack, wouldnt the bracket be better with both mounting points being on top of the sportz bar? wouldnt corrugations and the like put more stress on the underside fixing than on the top? I can understand if only the maxtrax were on the bracket, but with the extra load at the lowest part of the bracket I cant see the point of a mounting point underneath.

    About 113mm

The centre distance of the cross bars are:
    770mm for the Maxtrax Mk2
    810mm for the Maxtrax Mk1 V2

Excellent design amts. What is the distance from the end of the sports bar to the back of the mounting bracket?

Here is the design to suit the Aero/sportz bars by popular demand. Will fit 120 & 150 with Rhino Aero/Sportz crossbars mounted on north/south roof rails. Suits both Maxtrax Mk1 v2 and Mk2 and hi-lifts with 20mm hole pitch. I've only ever measured one hilift jack and assumed that the hole pitch is standard. Can someone confirm?

I think I need to see one in the flesh. Wooley ?

I assume MLC has the 1140mm bars and if he wants to get a Rhino alloy tray which comes in at 1105mm, then it leaves bugger all room for anything at the side of the tray for anything.
Yes mate, I have a size problem. I do need to replace them with longer ones so I can also fit a Rhino rack. I am being told a 1200 x 1100(rough) Rhino rack wont fit. I dont want a skinny Rhino but dont want it 1500 either as I want to get out of the moon roof should the need ever arise. The whole rack thing is in the too hard basket for me atm.

For what its worth I will be putting a rack on the cross bars for easy release purposes as I park under a building that has 10mm clearance from the North-South rails.......

Sure thing, they're not on the vehicle though, however that shouldn't really make a difference.

No, but I do need to get shares in Bluescope.

Looking at Sportz bars for the 120, there doesn't appear to be a lot of room under the bar for the 2nd fixing point.

A bit better for the 150

    Some more pics.
There are studs on the bracket and the hi-lift goes onto the studs and held on with nuts.
    Adjacent hole is for padlocking.
Hi-lift handle will need to be tied down somehow.
Hi-lift base should be out of harms way when opening the passenger door.
Quick fists used as a shovel holder.

This bracket is for 120 Prado with HD bars mounted directly onto the roof. Compatible with Maxtrax Mk1 V2 only.
