Craig well done they look like what I need also. I have got the mounting pin set and aalso a roof basket. I have 4 maxtrax but looks like the steel you used would handle the weight of four ok. Are you taking orders?
Cheers

Got my brackets back today. Here are the pics. Pretty happy with the result. As Amts said "better to over-engineer for longevity" This will give me quick n easy access to my maxtrax with plenty of room for my roof basket. Its only a 5 minute job to bolt the brackets onto the rack as they wont clear my garage door. (note to self when arriving home from a day out.....) Hopefully wont be too much of an issue with low branches, time will tell. (Click to enlarge)

I would call MAXTRAX or go on-line http://www.maxtrax.com.au. I have some in the US, but shipping would be quite dear.
They were made for Emily Miller to use in the Baja 1000 in Mexico.

Maxtrax Brackets have been knocked up and are at a mates to be powder coated. Went for the flat bar option and gusseted. No worries about these failing. I've bought a set of mounting pins for them. I'll most likely get the bracket back early next week. Heading up to Bundy tomorrow after work and wont be back till Monday. I will post some pick on my return.Originally posted by amts View PostIt's a bit hard to say. The vibrations the Prado will induce is the big unknown. I don't even know where to start. Best bet is to use 4mm material and either gusset it or fix it to the top rail of your basket. Might as well over engineer it for longevity (as long as you have the weight left to over engineer
)
