Re: Maxtrax
True that... they do look pretty decent..
What I didn't notice at first is that they are "sold per unit (not as a pair)" so cost is $150/pair.. at $75 a pair I'd give em a go for sure.. not too sure bout $150.. Love to hear anyone's reports on them though...

Re: Maxtrax
My local ARB shop in Sydney reckons he can't get a hold of a set and other local 4x4 places have said the same thing..
Mr. ARB says he could have sold 20 sets of them in the last few months if he had them, reckons they had a problem with local supplier and freight wasn't worth it for the price they make on them.
Maxtrax called me back today and can do them for their retail 299 plus about 20 for freight to Sydney..
BCF online store is 295... So I guess they are cheaper in actual stores by the sounds of it.

Re: Maxtrax
The best prices I've seen have been at the 4WD shows. I can't recall exactly how much, but certainly cheaper than BCF etc.
Leon, back when we had lunch with Brad McCarthy at the Brekky Creek, I recall he was talking about a design that would allow them to be stacked for a laminating effect, which would allow them to be used as a bridge or ramp. That would be a nice-to-have incremental improvement... (I'm guessing).Originally posted by SnagaAlso, I think there's is a new model coming out soon... if so, maybe you can save some cash by buying the current model when the new one comes out.
I can't imagine how they'll manage to improve the current design... we'll wait and see I guess.

Mine are still brand spanking new. Obviously I'm not trying hard enough to get bogged. Or the fact that the Prado is a capable car.Originally posted by lukedSeems that I can only find one set for sale 2nd hand... and the guy says he's never used them... seems anyone who has used them wouldn't sell them, guess that's testament to the quality of the product and looks as though it's something I will buy once and keep for ever, unlike a winch that may not fit my next car, should the prado not outlive me..
As per my post, I bought mine from ARB for $265.50. They were quite willing to offer a 10% discount when I asked for a better price and mentioned the PP forum. So BCF $295 is the going rate by the look, haven't seen anyone quote recent prices.. seems I'm a bit slow on the maxtrax bandwagon.
