Madkore, I know most will find this hard to believe but, Chuck Norris just rang me. He wants a set of these bad boys! That proves they are DAMM TUFF and good enough for a man's man! Who would have thought Chucky would need MAXTRAX!!!!!!!!Originally posted by Madkore View PostThat would have to be the funniest s**t I have read in a loooooong time! I reckon a camo set would look the bizz - almost on par with Mitch's pink set!

Guys
This thread obviously has a lot of value to those considering buying a set of the orange wonders. To help in that decision I have copied a post from the 2012GTG thread that is of relevance:
Regards
mlcWell Ladies & Gentlemen it is time to announce another sponsor for the 2012 GTG!
In keeping with the quality sponsors and brands we are very pleased to announce that one of the PradoPOINT GTG ICON SPONSORS is again coming on board for a third year in a row!
MAXTRAX will be supplying not 1, but 2 SETS of these Mandatory items in any quality recovery kit. Yes, that’s right, 2 sets and a locking kit also!
BUT WAIT THERE IS MORE! These are not the ever reliable glow in the dark, in your face orange Maxies we all love and know, they are COLOURED!!!!!! (Well they were coloured until I swapped them with my orange ones J)….. ok the rest of the committee chucked the shits, they are coloured again. AND not only coloured but the coveted and covert MULTICAM Maxtrax. Yes folks, perfect for the weekend warrior with the tuff-ass camo look. I kid you not. Who needs glow in the dark puke orange (Editor’s note: I have that colour and love them but need effect here ok) when you can have ones that would make even Rambo a proud man to own them. In fact when I spoke to Rambo and told him about these babies he said, and I quote “Wahajdufuifnmfvhfkfbfivnf, WTF where are my legs, I carn feeel my leggs, wm,kfcvyhftfrbfoikgfjgf, “sob, sob” dfuftgbdf, dats great man, I love those babies when the jeep got stuck in Rambo 37, and I rescued those vets for the 9th time man……)
A huge thanks from us and Rambo to Brad at Maxtrax for his continued support of the GTG’s!!!!!
Attendees are reminded that Maxtrax are a highly recommended item in your recovery kit if you are doing the 2012 GTG. We will be driving up some LARGE sandhills and sloppy mud on the border track and YOU (not we) will be needing them also on the days at Beachport and Robe. We are pretty confident on that given even AJ120 got bogged there, as did the rest of the committee. Yes folks, even I had 3 sets of Maxtrax going at one stage due to a hidden path marker and taking on an incline with a sharp drop off and nasty lean to the side. (Its ok, I had spare jocks).
If you don’t have Maxtrax of your own you should be aware that the use of a “mates” Maxtrax’s has been known to cost a carton of the owners choice!
mlc
Footnote to those Queensland weekend warriors planning their attack on SA. These babies may just camoflauge you enough so we don't see you coming!

If I'd known Richo I would have inquired about a Pink PowderCoating to go with the rest of your "Pink Bits"

Got the TraxRax back from the fabricators today and dropped off for Powdercoating. Should have them back mid next week. In the middle of sourcing fixings at the right price and may be able to post a few sets up for sale in a week or so....

Thanks Wazza
Almost identical to what mine is on the North South Roof rails (120mm)
Good to know for anyone considering my brackets when I make them available in the For Sale section. As long as the basket doesn't hang over the roof racks (East/West) then they "should" be fine. In particular is the 120 Roof Racks that are only 1150 wide (I bought the longer 1250 bars for mine so its not such an issue)

G'day Craig. My set up is the same as the pic. It's about 122mm from the top of the rubber boot for the foot to the top of the bar. This is as measured immediately outside the plastic part of the foot on the front x bar.
Centre & rear x bars are about 107mm in the same spot.
I have made up a quick option using some left over decking timber. Same rhino basket as Trevc's. Will take a pic when I mount it up tomorrow. Only issue I see is that my method takes up space within the basket which won't suit all the time. It will do until I figure out which tray I'm getting though :-)

Nice score mlc. I can certainly see from previous pics of the SA beaches / dunes that 2 sets are warranted. On a coule of occasions I've attempted recovery in some real soft sand where front and rear sets have been needed

Just bought my second set of these bad boys. Guess that officially makes me South Australian as most seem to have two sets!

LFaR, pics of these Foxwing mounts sometime please? I dare say that if these mounts hold the awning securely then they would be fine for the Maxtrax as they're a lot less weight...

That's gold Craig!
I think you're suggesting placing a spacer under the mounting point, and that would surely work. My only reservation with that is the potential for movement. Happy to be advised if this would not be a problem.
I have some interesting mounts for my FoxWing that fits to my WindCheetah. These mounts account for the lip and as an added advantage, they actually mount under the rack. Keeping mounts under the rack means more room up top.
Just throwing out ideas, 'cause ideas are cheap
LFaR.

It should just be a matter of sourcing some ally rectangular tube and mount inside the rack either onto or underneath to provide a flat surface to mount the brackets LFaR, allowing of course for the 870mm centers between racks for the MaxTrax mounting holes and would need also to be mindful of the height of the rack vs a sportz bar/ HD bar on roof rails as this is what I have currently designed it upon. I may need to make a variant on the current design to allow for Rhino Racks mounted directly on the roof. Perhaps someone can advise me what the height is from the roof to the top of the rail?

Good idea on providing a couple of extra holes for shovel mounting devices. I have done this with my Ver 1 brackets (quickfists) and Trev and I discussed it also when measuring up this morning where we decided the best location was underneath the roof rail on the back of the bracket. Mounting on top of the rail would make to awkward to remove the shovel with the MaxTrax in place.
