Huh:
I am waiting for the new guard, the amts-Hanabal and the bracket! (although I do like Craig's version of the bracket which looks like it would sit better on the sportz bar. Are there any welders in SA looking to do a FREEBIE?Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!

Maxtrax are a great piece of kit, and well worth the money, still wondering why the mounting kit is not supplied as standard with the maxtracks. At about $26 they are a bit pricey but we are fitting them to a windcheetah rack so they should come in very handy. The mounting kit also does not include the bolts to go with the mounting posts??07 Silver Grande AUTO, front runner rack, maxtrax, ARB on board compressor, safari snorkel, bushranger roof top pack... TraxRax - Ver2
Ok following a little bit of interest on my MaxTrax brackets, (I call em "TraxRax"), and various feedback throughout this thread, I have come up with an (IMO) improved design. Ver2 now takes up virtually no Rack space with the bracing gusset running perpendicular with the end of the Roof Rack Rail, allowing for a full width cage to be mounted up top. Made out of 40 x 5mm Flat bar, it is plenty strong and also has room to accommodate Quickfists for your shovel above the roof rack rail on the back face of the rack.
This version provides easier access to your MaxTrax, still utilising the MaxTrax Mounting Pins and now sits 150mm lower on the Roof Rack, clearing the top of the doors by approx 30mm on the 120 Prado. ( I will confirm clearance on a Trevc's 150 next week). I mounted them up tonight to check that all is good and will have half a dozen pairs knocked up for powder coating in the next couple of weeks. I can get fabricated a set that will also accommodate a High Lift Jack at the bottom. With this version, (Ver3), the Maxtrax will again sit higher up similar to Ver 1. Anyhow heres some pics of Ver2. Your feedback welcomed.

MLC if you mean to secure your MaxTrax, the pins I am using on my brackets are the MaxTrax pins for ease of use (about $26), which are lockableOriginally posted by MidLifeCrisis View PostGreat job but not for me. I will recheck v1 and v3 as I want to lock the ends

Craig,
How do you stop anyone from just unbolting the securing pins.

Hi Craig, no I meant the ends of the Rhino rails which seems to have the end off in your pic. I do think your designs are great though.Bitumen: A blatant waste of taxpayers money!

Currently Graham I have nyloc nuts to fasten the pins to the racks. Once I cut the excess thread down I will most likely do a tac weld on the fixing to secure.Originally posted by A10 View PostCraig,

Love the idea of this way of mounting the Maxtrax. Is it possible to have one fabricated up to suit a cage-style roof rack?
Thanks,
