  • ARB Osborne park had an open day on Saturday and had Maxtrax on for $265. When they rang me up at check in it came to $165! I was tempted to grab two sets but thought they might realize their mistake. If it were my local little shop I would have told them but I reckon ARB can afford it. Especially since $165 is a lot closer to what they realistically should cost.

"Realistically" if they were made in China with inferior materials, and design! I believe that Maxtrax are well and truly worth their current RRP.(managing to score a bargain for $165 just makes the purchase soooo much sweeter )

      • Without the costs of RnD, engineering, product testing and associated costs of producing a quality product I'm sure the costs would be closer to $165 per pair.

BUT, I know what Brad goes through to produce a quality product that will do what it's designed to do and the cost involved in producing the product in Australia that I think $299 is a bloody good RRP.

BTW... if you buy the ebay copies... better get in for a refund because they have already been informed they are in breach of the AU Patent Maxtrax has.

Realistically there is the cost of advertising, defending copyright breaches by unscrupulous twats, rents, rates, taxes, taxes, taxes, carbon taxes, wage oncosts, transporrt, sponsorship (of which Pradopoint has been a receiver for many years), insurance, government duties, product development and a myriad of other costs that eat into the ONLY reason we work and produce products being profit.

If they cost $500 bucks a pair they would be good value for money.

Try running a business at a profit, it's not that easy, I KNOW because I wind up businesses daily that get it wrong. MaxTrax are a damm great product and if the rest of the world stopped trying to breach copyright I suspect they might drop the price a bit, but nothing will stop the raping and pillaging by a labor government, well not until they are ejected ungracefully at the next election.

No reflection on you AE, but it never ceases to amaze me how people whinge about low wages and high prices and then join unions for better remuneration and then jump up and down because prices rise again. Its a very simple mathematical equation really.

          mlc

PS YES MAXTRAX ARE A SPONSOR, NO THIS DOES NOT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH ME DEFENDING THE COST. (OK a little bit but not the driving force for this fiery opinion.)

I reaserve my rights to rant more when I figure out the carbon tax fiasco and its implications !!!!!

          • Don't get me wrong, I was happy to pay $265. It's a great product worth every cent to someone in need. I won't get too far into speculation of the cost of production as it's a moot point anyway. Good on any company who comes up with a great idea, corners the market, and makes a good buck. Innovators are important.

As was stated before, getting them at a bargain price is just a little bit sweeter.

Source? You only need to change a small % to claim you're not infringing on a patent.

                          • I had a look at the maxtrax copy's at BCF today while I was there and they looked big and clunky, no shovel handles, they felt cheaper and were really only $20-$30 cheaper than if you get maxtrax on special. No i'm not working for maxtrax just giving my honest opinion. I will always look at options for anything I buy for my car and if something is cheaper but still looks well made and functions similar to a dearer item I will save my hard earned and buy the cheaper....I am in the market for another pair of Maxtrax for my work truck and my hard earned will be going towards another set of Maxtrax.
