Hi All
I have successfully installed a PZQ60-00345 Satnav Bluetooth Radio from 2021 70 Series Landcruiser (and some other models) into my 2008 GXL Prado.
This is a great modern unit with Touch Screen, great Colour SATNAV (maps are from Nokia so same as Garmin maps) and perfect Bluetooth functionality that just works and pairs and works with phone and Music so easily. It has a Micro SD socket for the Maps, USB socket for MP3 etc and a CD Player.
It also has a DAB Radio as well as AM/FM but an antenna is needed for this and I haven't attempted this yet.
The DAB Radio needs to be enabled via the SYSTEM Menu. This is accessed by holding down the AUDIO Key when the radio is on and switching the headlights on and off 3 times.
This menu has lots of things that can mess up the radio so don't fiddle. You've been WARNED.
Remove old radio and all existing Patch cables noting whether there are the two long wires Green and Purple present for the Reverse and Speed sensing attached to one of the Patch Cables and that also disappear down behind the Glove Box area.
These two cables are needed for the new radio. If they are part of an existing Patch cable then this is good as you won't have to run them yourself (as described below). I cut them at the Patch Cable (leaving an inch or so on the existing patch cable in case reconnection is needed at a later date) so they are present behind the where the new radio goes, and removed this old patch cable.
Have the following parts.
PZQ60-00346 Owners manual (optional - if you want)
PZQ60-00260 GPS Antenna
PZQ60-230 Patch Harness for Reverse Camera. Plugs into Cars Harness and radio (24 Pin socket).
PZQ60-00141 Patch Harness for steering wheel controls and Speed and Reverse signal.
PZQ60-00350 Patch harness ALSO for for steering wheel controls and Speed and Reverse signal PLUS Radios Microphone/Bluetooth enabling connector (see notes below).
PZQ60-00161 Adapter for antenna - This plugs into the Existing antenna plug, the Radios Antenna Socket AND the 10 Pin Main Power and Front Speakers Socket on Radio
This also has short set of wires and a socket that the Car's Main 10 pin plug goes into (instead of the radio)
The smaller existing Rear Speaker plug on the cars Loom goes straight into smaller socket next to the Main socket at back of Radio as for your old radio.
PZQ60-00260 GPS antenna - this goes on top of the Instrument Cluster (Speedo/Tacho etc) and Under the dash.
Lower Steering Column using the lever on the column. Remove the two Plastic screw plugs under the top of the Cluster and pull back a little the transparent screen to expose the top of the Instrument cluster.
Be gentle and don't break anything. I have big hands and managed this OK.
Clean really well with alcohol/ methylated spirits the middle front (closest to you) recessed square area on top of the instrument cluster, cut the square adhesive ground plane that comes with the GPS antenna to fit the recessed square and stick it on the recess. If you don't have the ground plane just cut a square of galvanised iron sheet and fix with good quality (3M) double sided tape.
The GPS antenna (it has a magnetic base) can now be magnetically attached to the Ground Plane.
Run the GPS cable to the area behind the radio being careful to stick it down (I used double sided tape) and cable tie it in a few places so there will be no rattles.
PZQ60-00141 Patch Harness 20 pin to 28 pin.
Plugs into Cars harness 20 pin plug and the patch cable PZQ60-00350 28 pin plug (ie both patch cables in series).
PZQ60-00141 also has three long cables that go to Speed sensor (purple I think), Reverse (green?) and handbrake switch (red - I don't think this Handbrake connection is needed as new Radio doesn't seem to recognise it; but everything works)
These wires have snap on wire joiner connectors that I connected to existing Speed and Reverse wires I left existing at rear of radio. If these aren't there then run the cables to the connection points for the reverse signal and the speed signal. These connection points have been well covered in many Pradopoint posts so search for them if you don't know what this means.
PZQ60-00350 Patch harness plugs into Radio's 28 pin connector AND the Radio's Microphone connector (very bottom left socket looking at rear of radio) and the other end into the PZQ60-00141 patch cable.
The new radio has a built in microphone that is activated by PZQ60-00350 Patch Cable! The Bluetooth functions won't work until this Patch Cable is installed properly.
PZQ60-230 Patch Harness for Reverse Camera Plugs into Cars Harness and 24 Pin Socket in radio.
You need the Toyota Reverse camera if not already installed - car has the loom wiring for this already including the plug at existing Loom behind radio.
This Camera can be bought from Toyota. Genuine is best as the voltage is specific to Toyota Radios. It also has detailed installation instructions which you really do need.
Reverse Camera won't work until reverse signal from Green wire to Reverse is connected as per the PZQ60-00141 notes above.
You don't need any existing GPS antenna, Microphone or Talk switch (if any) from eg a PZQ60-00200 old radio. They won't work with the new radio.
There are two images below of the radio and also the connection diagram for the back of the Radio.
Enjoy
