Hello all, I am new to the Forum and new to Prados having just brought my 08 GX. Can someone please tell me if the large link to the right of the tie down point is a rated recovery point? As in can I snatch from it. There is one on each side. Thank you

That looks like the loop from an ARB bullbar so no, not a rated recovery point. Many have used it though (with a bridle of course) but ARB wont tell you its a recovery point - they ended up removing them from their brackets and now sell an engineered recovery point for some models.
There are very few rated recovery systems on the market, sure plenty sell the point as rated in its own right but its not rated when its bolted to the car.
Cheers
Micheal.

You shouldn't snatch off them, they're tie down points- basically used for strapping them down when in transit. Buy a set of rated recovery points (i.e. roadsafe). They're much stronger, don't cost that much and best of all they won't fly off and kill someone. If you have to use the factory ones to snatch off, use a bridle strap to equalise load and do plenty of shoveling before hand.

Your photo is a bit disorientating! (being on its side and all...)
The loop that is made of a rounded steel rod in your photo is the standard Toyota tie-down point when shipping the cars.
The loop that is "flattened" steel is an aftermarket point, as mentioned above, and is part of the bull bar.
For light duty, either one is probably OK. But NOT for heavily stuck recoveries though!!!
I'd probably feed a bridle strap through BOTH loops on both sides of the car, and use this. I think that combination would be fairly bullet-proof...
Still would want to shovel dirt away from the bogged car's wheels before snatching...Rob.
