  • How to remove manual gear knob? Help!

    G'day Everyone,

My GRJ120R Manual has a worn out gear knob. I have a new one but for the life of me can't see how to remove it. Can anyone tell me what the trick is?

Also as an aside Toyota wanted $282 for a new knob. Got a genuine one off ebay for $100.

    Cheers

    Stewart

Don't they just unscrew? Right hand thread.

I would have thought it just unscrewed?

Looking at the diagram in this thread it looks like it does ... Post #12

Thanks Guys, The new knob doesn't seem to have a thread in it, but maybe the stick cuts one in the Nylon as it goes? Or I am blind which is also an option.

You got it, just don't expect it to stop turning as there is no "end" to the thread like a bolt/nut. Just stop when it looks on enough.

I replaced mine recently, got the genuine one off ebay as well. Screwed it on till it went tight and in correct position.
