I've been experiencing a clunking sound when changing between D and Reverse.
With the Mrs in the driver's seat, and instructions to resist the temptation to run me over, I climbed under the vehicle and observed the front propeller shaft clunk one way and then the other whilst she changed between D and Reverse.
With the Mrs safely on the couch, I checked the play in the universal joints (which seemed to be the obvious issue) and could budge them.
But! turning the front propeller shaft is possible by hand - both at the transfer case and front differential ends - representing what I'd consider "excessive play".
The issue is less noticeable, but existent in the rear.
Are my transfer case and front diff stuffed?
