While on a recent trip to Isralite bay in WA, we came off a pretty rough track and I slipped it back from HL to H and couldn't get the light to go out. Tried all the usual tricks, accelerating, decelerating, reversing etc etc but light wouldn't go out and I was about to get back onto the bitumen. I decided to ring Melville Toyota to ask advice and the lovely lady basically told me to get stuffed. Tried Midland Toyota where I purchased it and they said they'd get someone in servicing to ring me back. Eventually the office girl rang me back and said I'd have to bring it in. Explained to her that I was a 1000km away and needed to know if it was safe to drive on the road and she just said sorry.
Finally rang Esperance Toyota who put me straight through to a mechanic who explained that if I jack up one front wheel and if I can turn it, then the centre transmission isn't locked and it is fine to drive. Two minutes of his time. Problem solved, thankyou Esperance Toyota for some actual customer service.
Light eventually went out after 30 or 40 kms. Wasn't a problem for the rest of the trip.
Shall put up trip notes and photos later on. Still tidying up. 6 hrs to wash the car for a start...
