I use a redarc bcdc 1220 to charge my AUX and it is worth every cent. just make sure all your earth's are common to each other! The best spot i found is on the engine bay, driver side panel right next to the AUX battery if you have it installed behind the drivers side headlight!!
you will see the earth terminal there with a few wires connecting to the ground here.
the alternator wont charge the AUX to 100% without a dc/dc charger on the d4d engine!
Also if you fit a redarc bc/dc 1220 caharger make sure the fuses are the automatic ones that trip if the current heats up to much. i found this out after the fittment of two blade fuses inline melted...
