I have a N70 aux battery fitted in the standard spot for a second battery. It's been there for 4 years and no problems so far. If you're running your second battery in the rear of the car, what sized cables are you running to the front for your winch? I personally wouldn't be game running that sort of current that far. Under full load, a winch draws a LOT of power.

Generally the winch comes off the main battery not the auxiliary. Some people put in a heavy duty link to use both.My 150 build - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread.php?27423-A-Random-approach-to-a-Bluestorm-150-GXL-D4D-automatic

I've had mine under the bonnet for a good couple of years now. Been up the Cape and crossed Nolans Brook with water over the bonnet, and across the Simmo and have never had an issue.
Have dual volt guages fitted, so I can monitor both batteries all the time and have never seen it cut out from an overtemp situation.
