Alternator overcharging

I have a 120 prado with a 4L V6 motor, the battery light came on so I had it tested by an Auto Sparkie. He said it was charging over 15v and would need replacing for $675 before it cooks my battery. Any suggestion before I fork out the $$$$$

I bought a genuine Denso for the V6. $350 from Ashdown Ingrams. Took about 40 mins to install.

Try changing the "ALT-S" fuse in the main fuse box in the engine bay and see if that makes a difference.

Swapped mine for a reconditioned one, hard to find re-conditioners now just two left in Perth. Cost $200

Agree, I got a new alternator and it gave this voltage, so I had to remove the diode from that fuse posiiton and all was good.
