  • New stereo in 2002 prado. Correct wire harness?

    Hi.

I need a wire harness from a aftermarket stereo to my 2002 Prado stereo plugs.

I have been searching online (including this forum) for some days now but with no real luck.

I would like to change my stereo for something more modern. I have a Pioneer stereo (MVH-A200VBT) from another project that I thought I would just pop in there and then get whatever frame/fascia I needed afterwards.

It is my understanding that the stereo wiring is somewhat special in that it powers a external amplifier. Is that correct? And do any of you know where I might find the correct connection?

    Best regards from Iceland.

You should be able to get a toyota - ISO harness, then your ISO radio can plug into that.

      Thanks for the reply.

The problem I am having is that I am not able to find something like that, that I think is correct.

My car has three connectors but I can only find some online that has two. Maybe I do not need the third?? That is why I am a bit confused about the external amplifier.

I think you will find that one of the plugs is for connection to your clock display panel . (you would have disconnected it).

Hey guys. I have solved the puzzle!

          I got this:
          https://www.amazon.com/PAC-RP4-2-TY1...01B63G6ES?th=1

Apparently my car is an american version with a amplifier under the drivers seat. So to get that to work with a aftermarket stereo I got the PAC wire harness mentioned above.

Thanks for the tip but that was not the case. In the picture of the connections in the car you can see a purple wire going up to the clock.
