Running the Fridge from the rear power plug

Hello Pradopointers,
I recently purchased a new Dometic 44litre fridge (previously making do with a Weaco cooler).
I understand that inadequate voltage can be the cause of compressor damage. Just wondering if the rear plug will provide adequate power, or do I need to run a new wire? Any advice gratefully accepted.

220 volt inverter or 12 volt plug. more info needed.

Yes, varying voltages can damage compressors. Best way is to have a heavier feed wired from the front to your fridge so you have permanent power. If talking the existing 220volt inverter, it can only do up to around 100 watt (AC) and turns off when car stops. The 12 volt outlet in rear also turns off. and so does your fridge if plugged into either.

Well known the inverters (220V) burn out or blow fuses on fridges regularly.

Hi Piggy, Its a 12V plug (has both a plug for 12 volt cord and another plug for 240 volt cord).
Its a Dometic cff 45 fridge/freezer (was on sale and couldn't pass it up :-).

Have permanent power run, safer and will work better.

Sorry, misread your text Piggy, I started waffling about the sockets on the Fridge.
No built in inverter (2004 VX), but have a 140watt under the seat that was already installed when I purchased the car (I think its wired to the same rear power wire, but a fuse added in the engine bay).

Thanks Piggy, Yes I will run a separate and thicker wire once I work out the best path for it.
