I bought a can of the CRC MAF cleaner at Repco yesterday at $19.80. It was $24.99 at SuperDear. Recently I went to SuperDear to buy 10 metres of 10 - 14 mm split corrugated conduit for my second battery installation and they were charging $22+ for it so I walked out. At BCF, owned by the same company, the exact same tubing was $11.95, a couple of doors away. Cable lugs were $5 each at Superdear and $1 at Jaycar. In recent times SuperDear have jacked up their prices enormously. I won't be shopping there again.

Gave this a go yesterday. First time I've ever pulled this out to realise it's just a little metal pin between a whole of plastic.

The instruction says to wait till it's dry...waited 20 mins and she started fine. Now let's see if the economy improves.

Sorry for reviving an old post but yes the oil from filters as mentioned can and will cause the maf sensor to get dirty, add any super fine dirt etc and you have a poor performing vehicle mostly not noticed till the car throws a code at you. As i am realizing just now.

For reference must we use maf cleaner or is there a substitute that can be used. Im aiming towards carby cleaner etc.

        Edit:

Never mind, carby cleaner to aggressive, off i went to supercrap and 18 bucks later i have a cleaner maf sensor.

Decided to give my MAF sensor a clean today after reading this thread.

I suspect its never been done in its entire 295,000km life. As you see from the photos, she was caked!

          CRC MAF cleaner worked fast.

Now to test the placebo effect haha!

The fuel consumption lately has been so bad, I'm willing to try anything!

Hi guys, has anyone found the MAF cleaner to increase fuel consumption?

Only just found out about this today on here, our 2006 120 series GXL with a petrol engine is pretty hungry on the fuel.
