    I suspect the seats/sheets.
    Lets see..........

We have another one coming in Wednesday, it may be a similar case, but lets not jump the gun.

If it is a sump pick up issue and it sounds like it then that points to the sheets failing. Make sure the current sheets are photographed carefully when the injectors come out and make sure the sheets aren't damaged during removal. Who fitted the BDG injectors? Did they use BDG sheets?

      Edit: too slow.

On reflection I had notice the occasional 10 second cloud of smoke on start up - quite light but no noticeable rattle.

Just checked my service history. Normally serviced every 5000 kms. During a big trip last year over 2 months did a 6500 km service in Darwin but left the next one till I got home and it was about at 8000. Last one I let it go 10000 - that is at 160,000. Just turned over 165,400 and was due for service when it failed. Injectors were replaced at 124,906 in August 2014. BDG warranty says 24 moths and 40,000 = 164,906 that is I am about 600 kms over!!

        This should be interesting.

I will post pics and keep PPers in the loop.
I'm pretty sure BDG were doing the DLC injectors by aug 2014.
The warranty was upgraded to 3 year 50k then.
        Lets see that pickup.

Yes Anthony it was DLC injectors -0 but I just looked at the online warranty and couldn't see other than 24/40000 but may Matt from BDG could clarify for me.

All gear suppled by BDG including the seats/sheets. GSM in Queanbeyan are their preferred service provider. Gary told me this morning that they had done about 30 so far and this is the first suggesting a problem.

The BDG sheets look the goods to me. Wonder if there was a little contamination missed or an accidental scratch during cleaning. Anyway close inspection of the sheets will show if it is related.

I have now sent an email to GSM confirming my suspicions and formally requesting the initial actions of remove and photograph etc.

I have also sent an email to BDG advising what has happened, that it might be the subject of a warranty claim and requesting confirmation of the warranty.

Nice to have you guys on the case and on my side. Makes me feel less isolated when facing what could be an expensive exercise.

I see the Toyota revised seats at very high Klm's not leaking. They are great.
Just over a year or so ago, I noticed some BDG seats with a flakey coating.
I contacted Matt & informed him.
My concern was/is how many did I use like that? Like I'm not used to checking the sheets. But now I do.
The genuine ones the coating is different, definitely no flaking, it's like a Matt finish compared to bdg's electroplating look. (not sure what its called)
Then I noticed I'd get the odd flakey one, say 1 in 12?
So I called Matt & he personally went through them. He found some like what I was describing.
I have not seen any since. Problem is, it did go in for a while :-(
I have heard about some other BDG seats leaking too, a member on here, who was it? Mmmm........
Well this may well be a problem, I hope not. Lets see........

I'm not on a side, not yet anyway, lol......
I'm all for FAIR! Glad to assist with a fair resolution if possible.
I believe BDG / Matt will do the fair thing.
Now lets quantify & take it from there.

Only suggesting that you are on the side of finding out the real story - that's all. Which I appreciate - if it is my expense that is also fine. But I need to know.

Hey OGF, sorry mate, missed this as i don't get on here very often.

Warranty on the newer injectors is 3 years / 50,000km. From my point of view, i'll look after anyone when i think they've failed prematurely (and its our issue of course).

RE the issue itself, I'll call GSM in the morning and talk over what they've found. I agree that they're an excellent outfit and konw these things back the front. In the meantime, can you please email me directly (as i'm not sure we;ve received the email you speak of) [email protected] and we can go from there.

Done Matt. Good to know it is 3/50000 - takes another bit of worry out of the equation.
