Fuels Tanks_Sequence of fuel usage.

Hi all,
New to Pradopoint and new to Prado ownership. New to having 2 fuel tanks also.!

What is the sequence of events after the 2 tanks are filled and the vehicle is then driven using up the 180 litres on a trip?

Does the fuel in the 1st tank get used with the needle going from full to empty then switches to the 2nd tank with the 90L light coming on and the needle goes back to full then drops towards empty as with the 1st tank. Or does the Prado use the 2 tanks simultaneously and the neddle only goes from full to empty for the whole 180 litres the once Before the next refill?

Neither.

Fuel from the second tank gets used first, via a swirl venturi in the main tank. While the second tank is emptying, the fuel guage is indicating the TOTAL amount of fuel left in the car.
Once the second tank is empty, the first tank starts getting used, and at this point the 90L light comes on, and the fuel gauge now shows the fuel remaining in JUST the first tank.

So if the 90L light is OFF, and the gauge is reading halfway between full and empty, you know you have 90 litres left,

but:

If the 90L light is ON, and the gauge is reading halfway between full and empty, you know you have 45 litres left (in just the main tank).

Note that the two tanks are almost but not quite the same capacity: The main tank is 93 litres, the secondary one is 87.

Also. On the first tank. The fuel gauge doesn’t go from full to empty.

It goes ore from full to just under half tank mark before switching over.

So. I look at it this way.

Full mark = full tanks
3/4 mark = half tank on first tank
just below 1/2 mark = first tank is empty.

The second tank tank goes down quicker than your first.
