I'm going to replace the Timing Belt, Water pump & Thermostat on my 05 1KZ Prado. Done plenty of this type of work before, but wanted to know if it is necessary to remove the Radiator completly to do this on the Prado? Read a couple of different walk-throughs, and some say yes and some say no?

Cheers for that. Just thought if I didn't have to remove it why bother if there's enogh room? I might just take out the top Radiator Hose and go ftom there!

How many K's? I would recommend replacing the tensioner as well, cheap insurance.

How old is the rad then? I would take it out just to inspect it anyway. Even at 120K mine had the fins hidden behind the aircon condenser rotting away. Replaced it with genuine Denso off Ebuy. Cooling system deficiency will kill your cyl head faster than anything else. Injectors, glowplugs? The list goes on

Also replaced the Glow Plugs and fitted new Injectors at the same time as the Radiator (and cleaned the Throttle Body out as well).Comment

Pull the radiator. Gives more space thus no accidental damage to fins etc.
Thermostat is under the alloy bottom hose pipe and not the easiest to access, especially with those Toyota spring hose clamps.
Timing marks are always easier to see straight on, no parallel error.

I'm doing 195 000km on a 2005 prado with the 1kz-te engine. Is it too early to consider changing these parts?
