Hi everyone, I use to read from Prado Point, helps a lot.
There's something on my Prado that always bothered me, it doesn't go over 3300 on 3th and 4th gear (automatic gearbox).
I don't know if it low compression, cause the car has a very good acceleration and smothness, but when I push the pedal all way down, it never engages 4th, because it never gets to needed rpm.
I always have to loose the pedal a bit in order to enter the 4th and then I can push it again.
Top speed doesn't go over 140 Km/h.
I already:
-take out the catalytic converter (actualy, it wasn't even there!)
-cleaned sensors (MAP and the other one)
-disassembled intercooler and washed it with gasoline
-disassembled both diesel tanks and unclogged all that "tar" (diesel is really dirty around here!)
-reseted ECU by removing positive terminal and touching the negative (I do the same on my VVTi Prado)
-bought a new set of carpets (also did not work)
After this, the engine really became more smooth and the acceleration is great, but far far from the red line. I had a 95 with the same engine (no ETCSi) and that thing was way faster.
- It is not braking, it is loose, like the drivetrain, I even assured it with the laser thermometer in each wheel, disk and differential.
- I've searched for the EGR, but I don't think it has one (Africa market....)
My next steps, cut open the muffler. Is it possible for the catalytic converter to brake in pieces and clog the mufler?
There's no real mechanics in here, just dirty fuel, mud, terrible hot and no spares!!!
Any thoughts are real apreciated.....HELP!
