Fan Belt Tensioner Pulley Removal

Hi,
I'm up for a new fan belt tensioner pulley. Is the bolt thread conventional (anti clockwise to remove) or reverse threaded?

Don't worry, got it off. Unfortunately, changing the belt, 2 idlers and tensioner pulley haven't solved my squealing issue. I'm the sound seems to be coming from the tensioner area. How do the tensioners squeak? I thought it was just a round hub on a coil spring.

Run it without a belt? Any squeak? No.. Check all pulleys and air con/ p-steer, Alternator..

No squeak with the belt removed. Interestingly enough, when the when the squealing noise stays for a while while idling the alternator cuts out and voltage drops to 12.3V. The voltage goes up to 14.1 when driving. Not sure if the alternator pulley or bearings are suspect.

The new fan belt pulley I installed has left a thin trace of grease. Will have to keep an eye on it for a few days to see if the leak stops. I hope it's just an initial weep of grease and no a faulty pulley.

Could be the alt pulley as it’s one of the overrun type .
they can be replaced. About $82 plus a 17mm hex to undo it if you haven’t got one

I've got exactly that same noise intermittantly. I need the engine mounts done anyway so will probably get the alternator, pulley and tensioner replaced in one go. If an alternator isn't too expensive, I'll probably just get a new one. I don't want to replace the pulley only to find a bearing or brush worn in the alternator in a year or so.
