I’ve spent the last hour reading through the forums trying to get my answers and am honestly more confused than when I started.
I’ve had a 120 1KZ now for a few years, brilliant car, and planning to install a wvo rig soon (my mate owns a fish and chip shop). I’ve changed the oil religiously every 10k and really want to help the old girl on to a long life (at 350k now).
With that in mind I’ve decided to go over her from head to toe at the and change/flush every fluid, service every component that requires it to help her get to half a mil and more. I’ve had a rear diff on my last hilux seize at 110kmh on the freeway with wife and three kids onboard and I assure you it’s no fun.
Ive got a workshop manual but it’s in storage at home in WA (I’m in nsw for 6 months with work) and I can’t bring myself to buy a second. Can someone forward me the page on what needs to be serviced, or suggest what I should look at? I want to do atf, diffs, I did the under bonnet fuel filter and oil yesterday. I had a look for a fuel filter between the tanks as was mentioned on other posts, but couldn’t find anything. Do I need to flush out the tranny or just drain and refill? So many questions.... I really hate bleeding brakes, I spent weeks trying to get all of the sponge out of my last hilux so will probably avoid that unless essential.
On another matter, I’ve noticed the fuel economy getting progressively worse the last few months. Used to get 11-12 per hundred, now up to 16ish, same driving conditions.
