Mechanics weren't very helpful at all. Wanted to send it off to auto elec to scope the sensors on the inj pump. at a cost of more than what the sensors cost he believed the inj pump to be the problem though. I have since replaced the whole inj pump with a second hand one (awesome guy on facebook, only wanted $600 for it) and its now running perfectly. So will never know what it was. Im not about to swap out things from old pump to new one to find out. I did discover that the hard starting problem was the fuel draining back overnight. If i pump up the filter before starting it it fires up instantly. Fitted a non return valve to the fuel line and that problem has gone too.
Have had to go to cobar from parkes to retrieve a friends yacht and the old prado didnt miss a beat the whole way. 2.5 tonnes right on the limit of what it can tow and it handled it quite well albeit very thirstily

not much water at cobar for the boat, well U turns would be hard

I grew up in Wilcannia tough little town :-)

Mate towed it from south aus to Cobar before his v8 diesel Range Rover died so the prado came to the rescue.
