Can't drive it the way it is dispite the experts saying nothing is wrong.........computer says no!
I have ordered a crank able sensor now $98 from blood Toyota Geelong. Interesting the price varies by as much as $100 if I purchased it from Melbourne.
Now as far as an air leak issue, I would have thought it would have occurred at any revs not specific to that 1800 - 2000 rpm. It almost seems the gentler you drive it in that range the more the issue. If you load her up and accelerate hard, you don't notice the issue as much.

I thought I would disconnect the gas computer completely to see if it was a gas Ecu induced problem and ran it on petrol only for three tanks (1500km) after resetting the EUC. No change.

Anyway it will be in Wednesday so we'll see. Has anyone fitted a crank position sensor?

Fitted the crank position sensor.....No change. Crappy job with having to remove the aircon unit to get access to it.
Checked the resistance between the old and new before I put it in. There was a difference 2.7 to 2.15 ohms, both within the specs.
Also checked for vacuum leaks on the inlet manifold using soapy water but I could find any.
The search continues, I'm open to suggestions

Wal01. Please tell me you fixed it. I have nearly the exact problem. I have a hilux with same engine on LPG / petrol. Have done many things you have to try to fix with no result.

Is there a resolution to this problem? Mine is doing similar.

No ever fixed it. The issue solved itself or I got used to it. I ended up selling the poor old girl with 367k kms on her. We did a 5 week trip towing the van as a last horah and she ran like a dream, regularly sucking 30 plus L/100kms though through NSW. The only thing I did do which may have assisted was disconnecting the battery and connecting the positive and neg lead together for 12 hrs to completely discharge the ECU. Re connected it and ran solely on petrol for 3 tanks to allow the ECU to learn again. Theory was but running on LPG whilst in the learning phase, the ECU learns the wrong values to run correctly. I bought a new 150 diesel a couple of months ago and now I’m dealing with an auto that down changes all the time. Try the battery method then running on petrol. Good luck

Mate, not relating to original topic, but that 30+l/100km is on petrol or lpg? And how heavy is the van being towed?

Ive towed a 16ft Expanda (about 2T) with my Petrol and it used 21l/100km on average.

FWIW, I also towed the same van with a D4D prado and used 17l/100km average.

                30l/100km seems way too high.

Hi, so I had this problem on my FJ with a printz LPG system. I changed the fuel pump, MAF sensor, checked sparks, the hole works, cleaned intake. This help restore power and made a difference, however, What I found was the hoses from the LPG install had become dryrotted and loose creating intake Leaks right next to specific cylinders. After fixing those leaks, everything runs super.

Hi everyone, I bought an 05 V6 12 months ago, its just ticked over 268k and have started have this acceleration flutter issue, it first happened a couple days ago at 3am on way to work, today i went for a long drive and gave the accelerator some what for and sat in a parkbay for 10 minutes and Max-revved the engine out and drove on again and the problem seems to have settled down, although it is still there it was minimal, so im wondering if it is a blockage in fuel filter or just blowing out some crap inside, had anyone had any good results with their fixes.
                    cheers all

Max revved it for 10 mins......... Probs lucky it didn't throw a rod on you.... However at that mileage, Fuel filter, and plugs would be the first point of call. Coil packs and O2 Sensors next.
