Hi all,
Long time reader, first time post. Will try to keep brief, recently put our prado in for svi gas conversion and when we picked it up the fan belt was squealing/slipping so they replaced it for free which seemed to solve the problem. After a week or so i noticed a noise coming back, this time a steady 'chirruping' which got louder, normally when starting from cold for a good 10 minutes. So took it into Toyota for them to look at and was initially told by the mechanic that it was an out of warranty fix on the pullys to re-align them. A week later l phoned to check if parts were in and was told by Toyota that it would not be covered at all and was a $600 fix up involving inserting an extention collar to re-align the water pump pully as per a techincal memo issued in July 2003.They suggested l go back to the lpg installer and they said that they had no need at all to remove or tamper with fan belt or pullies. So you can see my frustration that a perfectly quiet engine is now noisy through no fault of ours .
So l'm just wondering whether this rings any bells with anyone else and do they recall having their/this pully alignment done on their Prado to fix this noise.
cheers
