Removing LPG system and replacing with petrol plus how do the tanks work?

Hi everyone.
After much thought I'm pulling out my LPG system as the tanks up for full compliance being 9 years old and been quotes a price of $1200 to test the system and give it a going over plus with petrol and LPG being the same price it's not worth the hassle so out the system come.
Has anyone pulled there system out?? I've been quoted about $600 so tanker into account labour and getting rid of the parts I assume it's not to hard.
Also when I put a sub tank back in which I'm yet to get one from a wreakers are they straight forward to putting in??

Hey Mate,

A couple of things here.

Firstly whoever is quoting you that much for that work they are ripping you off! An LPG tank test should be in the $100-300 Range and a gas service should cost less than $200 unless there are faults. After all all they do is replace the filter and check for leaks.

In Terms of a tank I have one sitting under my house which you are welcome to for like $25 but you would have to get it from Melbourne to Darwin which may be costly.

You will need to re install the auto switch over system so that switches from the rear to the middle tank and depending how the LPG was installed it will depend how easy that is.

I had this done on my 2002 Camry recently. Cost $280. 10 year inspection $350.
In NSW this then has have an engineers report and all submitted to motor registry. This then registers it as a petrol only vehicle.
The $280 included the engineers report. Hope this helps. Michael
