I have just taken possession of my 2006 6 speed GXL and am highly impressed with the vehicle. When I test drove the vehicle the owner was up front and told me that the check engine light had come on and he had taken it to Ultratune where the guy had run a scan tool and told him it was crank angle sensor. When I drove the Prado, the check engine light was off, (had been reset), but the battery light was on. The car ran fine with what appeared to be no loss of power, missfires or hesitation. I checked the charge rate with a multimeter and it was fine around 14v. When I picked up the Prado the battery light was now off with the motor running, but t5he check engine light was back on. I checked it with a scan tool and it came up code P0016, which is "crankshaft position, camshaft position correlation, bank 1 sensor A". Doing some research and what I know, there is a possibility of worn timing chain, but I am hoping it is something related to a sensor, the oil, or wiring. The motor has done 266000km and is quiet, smooth, and starts and runs fine. Has anyone else had this code come up and resolved it?
