Starter motor removal??

Hi guys, so I have an issue with my starter motor. It sounds like it’s spinning but just doesn’t engage onto the flywheel.

i have read mixed opinions of the best way to get them out, from a quick look at it doesn’t look like a simple job.

Really hoping to hear from someone who has done it before on the best way to remove it? And if they were able to repair theirs.

should note this is due to a weekend of 4wding and going through water crossings. It’s an 04 petrol.

30 mins in out. Go thru the side from wheel well, remove the tyre/rim. Also underneath helps for one of the bolts.
