Behind the air filter is a thin mesh screen. Does anyone know what happens if I remove it? Thanks for any answers.

That’s there to slow down & straighten the air for spot on MAF airflow readings. When removed there is a slight but definitely noticeable power gain through all rev ranges incl down low when accelerating off the lights. Basically you get more power with less throttle being used. Cleaning the MAF during each oil change would be recommended. A rare but potential downside is that the MAF may throw a fault code from too much air flow turbulence, which in turn could display the check engine light & retard power slightly until that mesh is replaced, or until you reset the computer.Last edited by Brett1979; 20-07-2020, 11:03 PM.2005 120 series V6 Grande, 2 inch susp lift (King/EFS combo), 32 inch MT’s, Safari Snorkel, rear diff lock, breathers, Light Force spotlights, UHF, dual batteries.
