Question Is it possible to turn a v6 engine into an v8?

Is this a trick question? You could try buying an extra 2 cylinders & associated parts in a kit called a “V6 to V8 Conversion Kit” from Parts For Cars & bolt them on. If you run into trouble along the way we’re here to help the very best we can. Funnily enough, I did read a couple of months ago that the Prado was sold in the USA as Lexus with the 4.7v8. It obviously didn’t make it here but it makes you wonder if there is a conversion kit ...Comment

IMHO its easier to reverse the conversion
eg taking 2 cylinders out of a V8 to make a V6 but if it can be done 1 way round cant see why not the other

That might affect 200 series sales so unlikely....

Yeah it was the GX470 over there. They are popular now for enthusiasts as they were mostly bought new by soccer mum types being a Lexus.. The 2uz would be an easy bolt in swap if you got all the bits but it's fairly pointless. It's only got a few more ponies than the 1GR and being an Iron block 8 it's a very heavy lump at the front. Would probably make more sense to put in the Dual VVTi 1GR out of the 150 series.Originally posted by Grimmest View Post
