Replacing fuel pressure regulator to improve fuel economy

Has anyone replaced the fuel pressure regulator and noticed an improvement in fuel economy? I've been noticing that the fuel consumption has been slowly rising over the years and I've stopped adding to the Prado quite a few years ago. Recently tried running without the Rhinorack Pioneer Platform and there was no measurable decrease in fuel consumption.

If you have replaced the regulator, did you have to remove the intake?

Denso iridium spark plugs were replaced 80,000km ago. Might be due for a new set.
Pre-cat O2 sensors were replaced 20,000km ago.

I don't think changing the fuel pressure regulator would help unless there is a enough loss of rail pressure to affect spray pattern and I would expect a performance loss if that was the case. I would clean/service the injectors before swapping out the pressure regulator and the clean the MAF sensor as well, I am assuming it has a hot wire MAF sensor.

The MAF sensor get a regular clean at almost every oil change.

I was thinking of using Yamaha Ring Free fuel treatment for the fuel injectors

Everything is still original in the fuel system apart from the O2 sensors mentioned. Looking back at records, the fuel filter was changed 90,000km ago. So maybe start tackling the low hanging fruit first.

Pointless.

After plugs and O2 sensors, as said above, clean the MAF, then pull the injectors out of the engine and get those properly cleaned & flow tested.

Get yourself a scan gauge or similar and look at the long term fuel trims (watch some youtube vids to learn how to interpret the results you see).
