  • Where to mount reverse camera

I am in the process of fitting a reverse camera and am wondering where others have fitted this camera.

I want to fit it just above the numberplate and just below the numberplate light. This means removing all the trim etc, but before I do that, I was wondering what others have done.

Hopefully the picture I have attached will work.

    Cheers,

    Cruiser120

How about inside the rear window? Easier.

Fitted mine under the tail light as you suggest.

The window though as suggested might work, depends if you want to see the tow hitch.

Others have put in the center of the rear wheel.

      Cheers

Mine is one that replaces a number plate light, but I am thinking of changing it to a camera that mounts inside the spare wheel carrier for a more central all round view

Mine is fitted below the numberplate light however is not much use for hitching up if you tow as it is off centre. If you tow like I do I would look at getting it as close to the middle as possible, which probably means fitting it to the spare wheel mount. If and when I get around to moving mine, I will wire it up and get my wife to move the camera to different positions to find what works before I finally bolt it on.

that size round camera will fit in the centre of the bumper bar up as high as possible. there is a small amount of room between the inside skin of the bumper and the towbar as it angles towards the front of the car.

those cameras normally have some rings you slip over the camera to adjust it to an angle down/up etc, basically a washer that is thinner on one edge. i have fitted mine there but mine gives a great picture at night and as such is longer unit than what yours looks like, so mine protrudes from the bumper about 20mm or so. i have it angled down so i see towbar and have it switched so as i drive i see behind me. it gives a fantastic view. only thing i wish mine had was the lines for distance on the screen but i have got used to it now and can park right up to bumper.

i got the idea from another i seen parked next to me at my sons soccer and i have a photo of it and also mine somewhere. if you are interested i will find it for you - let me know.

in the meantime, undo the 2 bolts under the bar near centre and you can pull the bar back enough to get a view of how much room you have there. pity you arent nearby as i could show you. i will be up that wat at xmas though but probably a bit late for you

                cheers

I fitted a number plate light but found it too far away from the centre of the car making it difficult to line up the camper. Have removed it from the number plate and made a bracket for the inside of the spare wheel. Turned it through 180 degrees so left is right and vice versa but you get used to it when backing up to the trailer.

Had to take off all the trim and feed cables through flex conduits but wasn't too much of a problem. Did break one of the tags on the back door trtim but a bit of superglu fixed it ok.

Same here for above the towbar. Good field of vision. I made up a cover for the camera which looks similar to yours.

If I remember well (few years ago) I purchased it from Aliexpres, but there are many suppliers of this model (all coming from the same manufacturere). Easy to instal , a perfect fit and working fine.
