oil plug fell out, what to do?

So after a huge fight with the dealer, I ended up paying for the sump to be replaced... NOT HAPPY!!!
As stated above, there was no proof as to who was at fault because of some under body damage from recent 4wding...Apparently my fault...

As another vehicle Tech, I will state my opinion,
Plugs will only come out if it has not been sufficiently tightened after the last service or you have an enemy that loosened it in your driveway the night before.......? .....etc.......?

You will be surprised how tuff some engines are and just how long they will run with no oil.
I have seem amazing things. Not good, but maybe not so bad.

Definately leave out words like offroad or 4x4 etc as often that will start a new direction if the blame game,
Even though it us as good as impossible for mud, a stick or water to loosen the plug.
It was left too loose......

My question to help define cause would be purely, when was it last serviced?

For anyone..... If this ever happens to you, if it's pouring out still, well it only pours for a minute or 2, so at offroad speeds, (slow) you may be able to trace back to the start of the "pouring" and find the plug!
Put it in, get any engine oil (Toyota engines are tough) and your good to go!

I have a rule in my workshop: basically sump plug spanners go on the hook only once the plug is in and tight,
So, if it's on the bench still it still needs to be tightened, as soon as it's tight hang it up!
It's never let me down.
