door guard keeps coming loose

The door guard/trim on the bottom of the passengers door keeps coming loose and flapping in the wind when driving along the freeway, Not sure wether to just squirt some silicone in there and stick it up or should I try and remove it and fit a new clip or whatever hold these in, it looks like the previous owner has already done some sort of glue trick as I can see a big blob that obviously is no longer doing the job..

Yep that's about your two options clean it and then a small amount of silicone should stick it well that's what I did but mine was only loose and rattling a bit.

Those clips are a pain. If you take it off get a whole set because they break easily. It may also be the notch in the trim that the clip clips into thats worn so even a new clip may not work. Instead of silicon, use urethane like sikaflex, sticks much better but you need to be neat.

as soon as picked up my vehicle i had to fix all the problems the previous owner was selling.
I pumped halfa tube of silicun* in underneath and taped it down at the bottom for a week.
been almost a year and is still like a bought one :-)
