  • Prado air con recirculate not doing anything

    Hey guys,
Had a search first but couldn't find anything specific to my situation as such. I have the normal dials for air con and it's not climate control or anything fancy. Basically I had the glovebox out to do the cabin filter and noticed there is a white trapdoor type thing directly above the cabin filter. This door was closed or as to let outside air in. Now when I press the the recirc button I can hear a buzzing sound but nothing happens. However I can move this door upwards to block outside air.
So when you press the recirc button, what is supposed to happen? Is the door supposed to move/open?

I'm not sure if mine is quite right.

Mines the same, something is broken I think. I actually taped mine shut with some gaff tape to just keep the dust out!

Yep, the door is not attached to the motor arm. I bumped mine and it stopped being driven as it deattached from the pivot. I had to man handle it back onto the pivot arm to allow the recirc to move the door. only a 2 minute job but be aware not to bust anything as it is only plastic.

Had a look at it the other day before I headed off to straddy, and found that the little motor that is activated when you press the recirc button was missing a plastic clip that acted as a hinge to move the white door.
Went to toyota to see if I could get a new clip- no luck, of course you need to buy the whole motor at cost $288 and 6 weeks transit from japan.

Just before cleaning the car before heading off, under the passenger mat, I found the clip. Pulled the glovebox out, removed a few screws on the aircon housing to get to the little motor near the cabin filter/fan area and reattached the clip and reinsterted the little stick into the 'hinge' area.
Tested it all and works just as it should. The motor moves the door when the button is pressed!

Sorry to bring up an old thread, does anyone know what the part number is for the little motor please?
            Cheers, Dave
