  • Began repairs on my rig after winch failure, big list , rear bar and flares, I'm not concerned with that because I intended on making a bar any way, the other damage is drivers side front cv , sway bar link, upper ball joint , brake line and diff mount, ... Moral of the story don't buy a cheap winch "unless ur a clown that drives a 4bee and never uses a winch" it will fail and cost u more than a decent one in repairs

                • good result - might I ask what voltage you got out of the old alternator? I stuck a booster diode in my circuit as I have hybrid deep cycle batteries and a fridge running 24x7

                    • as for me I put a pair of solar powered fans on the passenger windows to see what difference that makes to the inside (if any)

Old alternator was giving me 13.9 to 14.1 (diode fitted) prior to TASMANIA and some mud that AJ120 and I found on the west coast. Then the voltage started flickering between 12.5 to 13.7 volts so I bought the 130 amp unit whilst in Hobart and kept it in it's box waiting for the inevitable total failure. Looks like the clutch has packed in and there's not much resistance when you give her a spin.

                        • Hello boys ,
Just picked up an 09 120 still have my 06 1kz so want to take my fruit of the 1kz and put it on the 1kd ,
Dual battery system and solenoid, (reversing camera hard wired) Anderson plug with heavy cable, had to swop towing plugs from 7 pin to 12 pin ( 12 pin on my van )
ran wires from Anderson plug to a new fridge plug in the little glove box in the back LHS for my Engel, runs from second battery as does the Anderson, took me more than a few days on and off , all running on and through the chassis, on my back with the truck jacked up, ( new jack from super cheap 2.5 tonne $99)

While I was trying to re locate my dual battery solenoid, had it by my fuse box/ fuel filter before but can't put it in the same place on the 1kd, there is something else there ???
Anyway the solenoid still has cable on it and 100 amp trip fuses , not connecting to the battery and fiddling around I got a spark, (on my fuel filter ) put a hole in it so had to go for a new filter, had to get Toyota genuine because I had just had the injectors done, and the filter under warranty hence the Toyota filter ,
$ 92, I nearly fell over, done me a GOOD deal after a bit of chat , $ 85 , Toyota dealers are a rip off.

Anyway alls well that ends well , new truck is great can't wait to get the van on and see how she goes compared to the 1kz.
                          That's what I did to my 120 , anybody want to buy a 1kz.
                          Cheers Alan.

                          • Upset her today. Parked at Melville Toyota as had taken #2 son in to buy a near new Sportivo. I think she caught me looking over a new 200 and a new 150. Anyway she chucked the sads on the way home and my voltage dropped to 13.5 wtf? Brand new alternator was cranking 13.9 - 14.2 only yesterday.
