  • Prado 2004 Nightmare/Headache

    Hello All,

I have recently purchased an 04 Prado built prior to the change over 09/04.

A short time after purchasing the check engine light came on and sent it to a mechanic to diagnose. they thought it was faulty cam shaft sensors but after replacing these the same error code come up and he could not work it out and advised us to sent it to a toyota workshop

I took it to toyota and after 3 weeks of poking and proding at the car they found that there was an incorrect ECU/ wiring loom in the car as it looked like the previous owner had replaced these with the later model ecu/harness they then qouted me 6k to fix the car so i promptly said no and took it to my mechanic to hopefully source the parts from wreckers

we finaly found the ecu and harness that matched the car and after attempting to put them in we have found the harness does not fit the transmission!!!!

The transmission in the car currently is 35010-60b10.

Does anyone know what trasmission should fit my prado?

We have tried the A340F but the loom does not fit this transmission either.

    I have a 2004 prado 4ltr petrol 4 speed build prior to 09/04

Any help would be greatly apreciated

    Cheers

According to this http://www.japan-parts.eu/toyota/gr/...-kit-atm#35000 it should be A340F 35000-6A110

    The updated 5 speed is A750F 35000-60A70

Maybe ask them to print out the quote for you to peruse/ponder ???? I know they listed Toyota part numbers when they did one for me a few years back!. You could then try one of the foreign spare part importers??? e.g http://www.amayama.co.jp/help/

No doubt the seller knew exactly what he was doing - he simply reset the check engine light and then sold it. I'm assuming it was a private sale. I'm going to say that here in the Czech Republic, that wouldn't fly; the seller would either be happily taking it back or deeply regretting it. I was under the assumption that you Aussies tended to follow the same code.
