cat converter,cut out and bin?

looks pretty easy to cut the cat/con out of the exhaust
and weld it up again

any one done this?

should run cooler and less restrictive without it

I've been told by exhaust specialist that the D4D motor needs some back pressure and wouldn't recommend installing an exhaust without cat converter.
In Aust it would also be illegal I beleive

think of Portugal as most places about 50 years ago guys
ie drive just about anywhere you like on the dirt

and the cops just live and let live,if you don't take the mickey
that's why i retired here...

re the exhaust
maybe i should just buy a full stainless system
which wont come with a cat

yeh you are right they do need back pressure, its called a turbo !!

so technically you could remove all the exhaust and it would still run on, just be extremly loud haha

that's what i'll do mate
until i can find a decent full stainless system

i remove the cats on my dirtbikes and they always run sweeter/cooler
hardly any increase in noise either

Hi Toolsplus,
Just had a new manta exhaust fitted no cat and none required according to the exhaust fitter.

Would love to know the story about retirement in Portugal, always had itchy feet even in retirement, even thought of bali.

i ran all my Subaru turbo engines with a 3" D exhaust less than a metre long no muffler ( had an over pipe to look like a muffler) and always ran under the 95db at cams sanctioned events
so they are not that loud !! just spool a lot faster
