    If Toyota have done your servicing, they should have followed their own instructions and removed the injectors every 40,000, as far as I am aware. That would have prevented the issue. They need to explain why they didn't follow their own procedures. (or am I wrong) I will leave that to those who know better.

    Hi All,

    Long time reader, first time poster!

    The reason I'm posting is to get some feedback on my issue and if the knowledgable forum members believe I have a case against Toyota.

    Last weekend my 3L diesel Prado 120 Series - stalled when travelling around 70km/hr. Restarted it and it sounded dreadful. Had it trailered to Toyota the next day.

    A little bit of background: Approximately 4 weeks earlier I had received the Injector Seal recall letter from Toyota and put it on my "things to do" list, besides there was no urgency associated with the recall, as a matter of fact it stated that the recall will be open until May 2019. Plenty of time!

    In my initial discussion with the Toyota Dealership I mentioned that the issues and symptoms appear to be related to the current recall. He knew of the recall and mentioned that if the trouble has been caused by the failure of the injector seals then Toyota should be liable and "are normally pretty good about these things" and should fix the issue.

    That afternoon he called me and agreed the seized motor has been cause by the blockage of the oil pick up, which in turn was caused by the failed injector seals. I supplied my service history, described by the dealership as "Good" not excellent, but he thought it was good enough for my case.

    He detailed that they were required to create a report with photos, budget/costs associated etc and send off to Toyota.

    A week passed, and today I received the call from the dealership "OH WHAT A FEELING" urghh He said that Toyota have nothing to do with the issue because the vehicle should have had it's injector seals changed every 40,000km. The Service Manager had never mentoned this 40,000 service in the whole time leading up to this call.

    My questions are:
    Since when do your injector seals require changing every 40,000kms?
    Why do they need to issue a recall if the seals are being changed every 40,000km's?
    Has anyone else had this same issue? If so, how have they progressed their case with Toyota? How do you escalate past the dealership?

    Vehicle Details:
    Prado 120 - 2007
    246,000k's
    Toyota Serviced up to 130,000k's
    Minor services completed by owner with 3 major services conducted by local registered mechanics.

    I realise the vehicle has done a lot of k's but I'm feeling particularly frustrated, it's been regularly serviced and can't help but think they are just trying to shut me down ASAP.

    Any thoughts, would be greatly appreciated.
